2020 T-ball (Baseball)

Pre-school and kindergarten

T-ball is a non-competitive first experience in baseball and softball designed for safety and first-time players. A three-inning all-roster hit and field game serves as a quick, fun introduction to the sport. Players start off hitting off a tee, then sometimes progress to hitting a softly tossed ball from the coach halfway through the season, as player skill allows.

Practices start in late March and usually last for about an hour on two weeknights/week (typically somewhere in the 5-7 pm time slot). Games start around May 1 and are played two weeknights/week (usually Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, and typically somewhere in the 5-7 pm time slot) and end in early June.

Base Cost: $110.00

Opened: 11/18/2019
Closes: 02/29/2020

In Grades: Pre-K to K for 2019-20 School year

2020 Farm Ball

1st and 2nd Graders

Farm Ball is the next step after T-Ball.  Growing skills along with the love of the game are the goals at this level.  A major developmental goal is for the kids to learn how to hit a pitched ball. The first half of the season coaches will pitch with players getting a chance to throw off the "mound" in the latter half.  There are no strikeouts or walks.  If a child doesn't hit a pitched ball during an at-bat we'll bring out the tee to make sure they experience hitting the ball each time they come up.  Farm players will learn the basic rules of the game, or have them reinforced. We do adjust to three outs per inning but have a 5 run limit per inning.  Once again, the focus is on FUN and learning basic skills.

Practices start in late March, two weeknights/week (typically somewhere between 5-7 pm). Games are played two weeknights/week (usually Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday, and typically somewhere between 5-7 pm) and end in early June. This is a two night per week commitment throughout, both in the pre-season and after games commence.

2020 Softball 8U

1st thru 3rd Grade

(Ages 6-8)

Eligibility

6-year olds are also eligible for 8U if they have had one (1) year of Tee Ball. Because of the age difference, we strongly suggest that only advanced 6-year olds consider participating in the 8U division. Players must be 8 or under on January 1, 2020. 8U uses a 10" Softie softball, and uses a machine pitch to assist in player development.

Practices

Practices generally start the week after Spring Break. Practices will be held in April and will be held twice a week, with games beginning in early May and will be 2 games per week (Mon-Thur). Practices will be limited once games begin.

Games

Sellwood Softball participates in the Clackamas County Girls Softball Association (CCGSA). That means we play teams such as Happy Valley, North Clackamas, Oregon City, Gladstone, Canby and West Linn. We may have to travel to those locations at some point during our season and carpools can be arranged. Games are during the week, either Monday/Wednesdays or Tuesday/Thursdays, which days a team will play on is determined closer to the start of the season.
